Despite my location, I'm American. I just got bored with the US and set off overseas. One day I plan to move back and settle down and return to normalcy. (In the meantime, at least I get great vacations and still spend about 1/3 of my life in the US.)
I enjoy reading, writing, role playing games, traveling. I also enjoy hiking if I'm in a place without landmines.

As a simple summary, I'm a geek. I don't specifically come across as one on the surface, but my hobbies, interests, etc. very staunchly put me in that category. And since most all my friends proudly classify themselves as geeks, I think I'm safe to call myself one, too.
For entertainment, I enjoy books, TV shows, movies, writing - Mostly science fiction/fantasy, although really I'm into anything that will make you think when you finish it.
I am also a big fan of role playing (table top or live action, not video games, although I've got nothing against them.)
Personal interests and areas of study are history, science, philosophy, and comparative religions.
Favorite food - Mexican or Indian (although really, right now I'd go for anything that isn't Afghan.)
Favorite book(s) - Tower of Glass, Downward to the Earth, Canticle for Liebowitz, Cats Cradle, A Song of Ice & Fire series (wish he would finish it, but in the meantime I'm looking forward to HBO's rendition), To Kill a Mockingbird, Lord of the Flies, In Dubious Battle, The Moon is Down, A Prayer for Owen Meany
Favorite TV shows - Babylon 5
Favorite animals - Dogs, but I like all, really
Favorite trees - Cedars (although oaks are pretty cool, too. And I really miss Douglas Firs.)
Favorite countries - As a tourist-Turkey. To live in-Oman.
The absolute last thing I read was the textbook for the class I'm teaching (English at the American University of Afghanistan.)
The last thing I read just because I wanted to was about Leni Reifenstahl.
The last book I read was Ship of a Million Years by Poul Anderson. (Not all that good a book.)
