"... FOR THE LORD SEES NOT AS MAN SEES. MAN LOOKS ON THE OUTWARD APPEARANCE. THE LORD LOOKS ON THE HEART." 1 Samuel 16:7
Here comes some of my heart...
I was married for 14 years, and have been divorced for 11. I have a son (22) and and a daughter (18).
Since then time of my daughter graduating from Redlands Adventist Academy, I have lived alone now in my modest 1902 Victorian home (You may view it in my pictures).
I have a passion for travel. I have journeyed to Canada, Mexico, Costa Rica, Europe (four times), China, Japan, Peru, Brazil (four times), three cruises to the Caribbean, and all over the United States. I hope to go nearly everywhere before the story is over!
I have Irish roots (including some Leprechaun blood), and even spent a summer once long ago in Ireland.
I am a hard worker. I am a tenured Associate Professor of Psychology. I have earned two graduate degrees. I am also trained as a marriage and family therapist.
I think I have a good sense of humor. I am forthright, reflective, introspective, and analytical, but I definitely have a sensitive, deep feeling side to me. I see myself as being affectionate and passionate. I am fairly "popular culture" retarded.
I am NOT a stereotypical male. I took yoga! I know what color mauve is. I like to talk. I like to know what a person is thinking. I am highly communicative. I do not have personal relationships with motor vehicles. I do not follow sports. I do not fix things (although I am blessed to sometimes have a hand in helping fix broken relationships).
I am HONEST. I am FAITHFUL to my commitments. I try to think of -- and care for others. I am a follower of Jesus. My "Compass verse" is Acts 13:22.
I am an an elder at my church. I graduated from a Christian liberal arts university, attended Princeton Theological Seminary for a year, and I studied at Notre Dame for a summer. The Christian writer that has had the greatest impact on me is Donald Miller.
I definitely have a funny, silly, joker, festive, dress-up-in-costumes "speed" in me that I can and do use.
My greatest accomplishment to date is giving a quarter of my liver to my son when he needed a transplant. It made me feel like the Velveteen Rabbit.
On the improvement side, I need more patience, and need to work even harder to listen and search for the deeper meanings in others and be sensitive and compromising to them.
I suppose I'm not much to look at (literally), although I have hidden nothing in the profile. I am a small man (To quote Jesus out of context, "My yoke is easy and my burden is light."). If this Internet dating thing doesn't work out, I'll probably just go back to looking for matches along the yellow brick road.
Although I am 55, I honestly feel only 54. I still have cat-like movements. I am fit, and health conscious.
A fair number of the profiles I have read have mentioned the woman's quest for her "prince." I guess I am more like the prince's counselor.
I AM OPEN TO JUST FINDING "GOOD FIT" FRIENDS, as well as open to finding a life partner. If it was to be someone to share my life with on a daily basis, I hope to find someone whom is fairly sensitive, communicative, gentle, introspective, affectionate, passionate, mature, kind, FAITHFUL and VALUES ME. I have a strong preference for women who shave their underarms. No yodelers, please.
I am impressed with women whom have LEARNED significantly about close relationships from their former attempts, asking where it went wrong in the past, and what was their part in that. All the lonely people, where do they all come from?
I admire all whom are willing to identify and work on their own areas for personal growth. As it has been aptly said, "To become wise, one must calm the barking dogs in one's cellar."
I know who I am, and who I am working to become.
I prefer ladies reading my profile that have any interest to be assertive in contacting me. We can continue the exploration by phone -- or face-to-face. Facebook and WhatsApp make even international contact easy and free. It's the relationship that matters.
